– Sipa-Ouest-France creates its content repository to support editorial teams and accelerate the development of new digital products and services

TEMIS, part of Expert System (EXSY.MI), the leader in multilingual cognitive computing technology for the effective management of unstructured information today announced it has signed a strategic license and services agreement with the Sipa-Ouest-France Group. As part of the development of its digital offering, the group plans to semantically enrich its content repository with the Luxid® Content Enrichment Platform.

The publishing and media group Sipa-Ouest-France, manages many businesses including publishing, radio broadcasting, display advertising and communications and targets individuals, as well as professionals, with a wide range of products including newspapers, newsletters, websites, magazines, monthlies, books, reports, classified ads, analyses, encyclopedias, and directories. It also provides its readers with a myriad of general, specialized and multipurpose content.

As an editor of five daily newspapers including Ouest-France the largest French daily newspaper with a circulation of 735 000 copies daily, as well as Le Courrier de l’Ouest, le Maine Libre, Presse Océan, La Presse de la Manche, the group also publishes 80 weekly newspapers through its distribution-dedicated subsidiary Publihebdos. Additionally, the company’s Sea division also federates such titles and brands including Le marin, Marine Editions, Le Chasse-Marée, Voiles et Voiliers, Cultures marines, and Produits de la mer.

Due to industrial production constraints, content production and storage processes are very specific to each publication of the Sipa-Ouest-France group. Having an overview and accessing to the entire content produced by the group is currently difficult for a contributor (journalist, editor…). However, having access to all contents would help improve assets reuse and interlinking, as well as facilitating new digital products and services creation.

To remove information silos, Sipa Ouest-France created a repository that will offer all editorial teams transversal access to the group’s content. It will include a semantic component, based on TEMIS’s Luxid®, that will exploit domain-specific thesauri to enrich content with managed metadata and unique URIs. This semantic metadata layer will help the group make the most of its assets, in particular by federating and optimizing content reuse, improving contextualization and asset interlinking, and increasing content visibility on the Internet (SEO).

Sipa Ouest-France chose TEMIS as a strategic partner to complete this project, and will integrate the latest version of its semantic content enrichment solution Luxid® 7, its ontology management application Luxid® WebStudio as well as several specific annotators dedicated to media applications.

“Semantics are an essential layer of our future digital content repository. They will boost editorial teams’ efficiency and structure the core of our future digital products and services,” said Guy Sauvage, CIO of Sipa-Ouest-France. “We are thrilled to work with TEMIS that will accompany the group on strategic matters in the comping years.”

“We are glad to initiate a long and fruitful collaboration with Ouest-France. Our Luxid® 7 has been a deciding factor in the choice of the solution, further confirming the value of an integrated semantic enrichment workflow in this market,” said Vincent Nibart, Sales Director Publishing & Media – Europe of TEMIS.
