Technology improvements and a new sales manager reinforce the company’s support for customers and the Central and South American markets

Expert System, a leader in the management of strategic information and big data, today confirmed its commitment to the Oil & Gas industry by announcing an enriched offer dedicated to the sector and the expansion of its sales team to better serve customers in the Houston area.

With tens of thousands of wells, hundreds of thousands of miles of pipelines, and massive daily production volumes worldwide, energy companies operate in one of the world’s most competitive, risky and data-intensive environments. Although recent technology advancements can ensure near real-time production monitoring, more than raw data is needed for geoscientists, whose role in optimizing the complex upstream process is becoming ever more strategic. Expert System has served the industry for more than 10 years, providing solutions that enable companies and their scientists to use the wealth of knowledge and complex information available to them for critical decision making.

“While innovative sensor-based technologies can help companies remotely and automatically monitor wells, ensuring that all information is available to geoscientists and reservoir engineers, especially unstructured documents such as daily drilling, reservoir performance reports, field studies or scientific papers, can create significant business value for these organizations,” said Bryan Bell, Executive Vice President, Expert System.

By leveraging its broad experience in the Oil & Gas sector, Expert System has enhanced the features of its flagship Cogito technology to include thousands of concepts specific to the O&G industry in its semantic network. Cogito helps O&G organizations implement highly targeted taxonomies and ontologies, ensuring the findability of the vast amount of information created on a daily basis. The company has strengthened its sales and project management support for the sector with the recent addition of sales manager Reed Barrett to its team. Reed has a wealth of Oil & Gas sector knowledge and extensive experience working in the US, Mexico, and Central and South America. He will be responsible for expanding relationships with customers, prospects and partners, and for growing Expert System’s footprint in Mexico, and Central and South America. Reed will be based in Texas.

“Thanks to the combination of a fresh perspective with vast experience and knowledge, Reed is an important asset to our team and will be a valuable resource for our Oil & Gas customers,” continued Bryan Bell. Expert System will be featuring its semantic solutions for the Oil & Gas industry at the upcoming PNEC, Petroleum Network Education Conferences (May 19-21, 2015, Houston, TX). Longtime Expert System customer Shell will be sharing their best practices and solutions for using petroleum data and information management across the energy organizations (Improving Information Discovery Using Text Analytics at Shell Exploration, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 8:30 a.m.).
