The software and information industry’s finest products, 3-5-2009
New York– March 4, 2009 – Expert System, leading provider of semantic software that searches, discovers, classifies and interprets unstructured text information, today announces its COGITO® Focus product has been named a finalist in the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) 2009 CODiE Awards. COGITO Focus was selected as one of only four “Best Enterprise Search Engines” out of over 850 entries in this year’s competition.
Now in its twenty-fourth year, the CODiE Awards celebrate outstanding achievement and vision in the software, digital content, and education technology industries. Through a unique combination of journalist and peer review, the awards recognize outstanding products and services, as well as corporate excellence and philanthropy. Nearly 200 judges from the trade press, consulting, educators, IT specialists, and other knowledgeable, but neutral, experts have reviewed the products and selected the finalists from more than 850 nominations.
“The competition is particularly steep this year during the twenty-fourth annual SIIA CODiE Awards, making selection as a CODiE finalist a real achievement,” said SIIA President Ken Wasch. “All the companies on this year’s list should feel justifiably proud of their accomplishment in making it to this stage, and have much excitement to look forward to regarding the upcoming CODiE Awards voting.”
COGITO Focus is a new and effective way to search and access decision-centric information by optimizing and combining research and analysis activities. Most search technologies are extremely limited when processing text, especially within unstructured documents such as reports, email messages and social media networks and more—especially since they only use keywords to match results to the search. COGITO Focus quickly and accurately performs interactive analysis on all unstructured information, and discovers search terms in their proper context by employing a 100-percent semantic approach.
“Expert System has been working for more than 15 years to revolutionize search, incorporating natural language processing and human understanding to our software,” said J. Brooke Aker, CEO, Expert System U.S.A. “It’s an honor to be recognized by the SIIA and bring more awareness to this new approach of enterprise semantic search.”
CODiE Award winners will be announced at a gala event being held at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco on May 5, 2009. For a full list of finalists, please visit http://www.siia.net/codies/2009/finalist_list.asp.
