Expert System, leading provider of semantic software that searches, discovers, classifies and interprets text information, today announces the official debut of the Semantic Valley consortium. Semantic Valley was announced in Italy last December and seeks to establish a center for the global development and advancement of semantic technology.
Semantic Valley’s objective is to enhance the way in which people access and interact with Web-based information, both in their professional and personal lives. By applying semantic technology, the consortium’s intended outcome is to develop content technology that simplifies the process of finding information quickly and accurately. Semantic Valley is sponsored by the local government in Trento, Italy and provides a network for businesses, public and private entities, by uniting the worlds of culture, research and innovation and creating a center for the development of content technology.
“While semantic technology has come a long way, there’s a ton of ground left to cover,” said J. Brooke Aker, CEO of Expert System USA. “Finding new ways to marry content and semantics will promote entrepreneurship as well as increase opportunities in fields like education and research. We’d love to continue building upon the Semantic Valley and add members who can help Semantic Valley explore new territory and diversity of thought. The greatest number of ideas and experiences should be represented.”
As established in a recently released Manifesto, Semantic Valley has laid out a rigorous set of future goals and plans to expand global recognition and adoption of semantic technologies. Specifically, the consortium seeks to provide a venue for experimental case studies, as well as assistance with prototypes, demos, assessments, marketing studies and consulting to carry new technologies from the idea stage to implementation.
