Expert.ai Sponsors Linguistics Career Launch to Support Linguists Pursuing Work Outside of Academia

28 July 2021

Expert.ai (EXAI:IM), the premier artificial intelligence (AI) platform for language understanding, today announced it is a proud sponsor of Linguistics Career Launch (LCL), the first-ever virtual bootcamp focused entirely on career training for linguists. Conducted by the Linguistics Beyond Academia Special Interest Group of the Linguistic Society of America (LSA), LCL is a four-week series of courses, talks, workshops and events designed for linguists wanting to pursue work outside of academia.

We’re delighted to offer our registrants opportunities to learn more about careers in our industry. Expert.ai appreciates the unique skills in language understanding and organizing information that linguists bring to the workplace, and therefore makes an excellent partner for this one-month intensive program,” said the LCL Organizing Committee.

Now underway and running until July 30, LCL includes presentations focused on specific companies, a virtual exhibit hall where sponsors can converse with attendees, informal networking, a full roster of interactive learning focused on specific industry-related skills and more. The program is attended by academic faculty, alumni, postdoctoral, graduate and undergraduate students.

“For those involved with AI and advanced language studies, academia has played a very important and supportive role,” said Francesca Petronio, Chief People Officer at expert.ai. “Countless groundbreaking technologies and advancements have spun out of higher learning. Many in academia are looking to apply the talents they’ve developed to new initiatives – and their skills and ideas are very desirable across industries. There are many individuals in our organization who came to us through this route and so it’s one we feel is important to support.”

Expert.ai is a Giant Ground Sloth Sponsor, the highest tier of support. Attendees can visit its virtual booth during the LCL Career Expo and speak directly with company representatives and AI leaders. Expert.ai will also present a company profile discussion where attendees can learn about the company, its mission and culture, the opportunities it creates for customers and hiring practices. Career linguists can also connect with expert.ai executives at the Career Mixer events to discuss the wide range of available career paths.

Expert.ai regularly works with institutions of higher learning to foster interest and developments in AI. This includes Northwestern University’s Big Ten Augmented Intelligence Bowl, aimed at addressing health disparities and raising the profile of AI across the 14 institutions representing the Big Ten Academic Alliance. Semifinalist teams are now preparing for the final round of competition which will be decided in October.
